On 18 July 2024, Sheikh Ashabul Yamin, a 4th-year Computer Science and Engineering student at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Mirpur, was shot during the nationwide Quota Reform Movement in Savar, Dhaka. Despite being gravely wounded, he was brutally thrown from an APC by police before succumbing to his injuries, becoming the first student martyr of the movement in Savar.
In this documentary, Yamin’s father shares his heartbreaking memories of his son the young student who stood fearlessly for justice, equality, and democracy in Bangladesh. We explore Yamin’s courage, the horrific police brutality he faced, and the unimaginable pain his family endured in the aftermath.
